Work
Where I've worked.
Media Marketing Group
- Role:
- Lead Product Designer / Digital Director
- Client:
- Media Marketing Group
Two years at Media Marketing Group, a small agency in Hobart where I led product design across client work and two internal products. The team was lean, the briefs were broad, and the foundations were mostly mine to build.
The first months went into picking technology stacks, setting up project management, writing the first version of our UX process, and starting an internal design system for web and mobile. All of it ended up mattering more than any single screen I shipped.
The shape of the role
The work fell into three rough bands:
- Client work, mostly consumer e-commerce, where the brief was to push past the norms of a traditional e-commerce platform
- Two internal products, ShopTasmania and Switching Gears, both designed and launched during my time there
- Team and process: a formal UX practice (wireframing, prototyping, qualitative and quantitative testing) and the internal design system
I ran user testing, A/B tests, and analytics work across the consumer sites. I also tried to be useful to the people on the team. Mentorship, trust, the boring parts that make a small team feel like a team. That part of the work shows up least in any portfolio and matters most over time.
